Domestic Energy Performance Certificates
The energy performance certificate produces a consumer friendly rating similar to the rating now used on all domestic electrical appliances such as a fridge. Some of the factors considered during the EPC Survey are:
· Heating
· Water heating
· Build type
· Windows
· Insulation levels
· Lighting
· Property dimensions
The aim is to provide an illustration of the energy performance of the property. This can be used as a guide to make energy saving improvements to the home and to give any prospective buyer a direct energy comparison between properties. This information is also used to work out the carbon emissions created when using the home.
The EPC will further provide you with suggested methods to improve energy efficiency, make savings on fuel bills, and the reduction of CO2 greenhouse gas emissions.
The certificate also calculates the basic running costs for the home per annum for heating, hot water and lighting. It also indicates energy saving measures and their annual savings.
